Founded in 1973, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The Georgia Trust operates two historic house museums, Hay House in Macon and Rhodes Hall in Atlanta, which also serves as its headquarters.
In addition to other preservation efforts and programs, it releases an annual list of Places in Peril to encourage people to preserve endangered buildings of historic significance.
Mark McDonald, president and CEO since 2008, is retiring this year. He edited a book about historic Georgia architecture that will be published this fall. A national search is being conducted for his successor.
