We had been driving all over rural North Carolina and Virginia with no problems, but then hit a deer on I-575 on July 4. It can happen at any time, anywhere.
But, from October to January is the most likely time to hit a deer and especially at dusk on low-traffic roads. The odds of hitting one in our state are 1 out of 108, according to State Farm.
