by The 100 Companies

The only athlete from Georgia to compete in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics won a silver medal. Elana Meyers Taylor, from Douglasville, competed in the monobob event for Team USA.

This is her fourth time competing in the Olympic games and her fourth time to win a medal. She won silver medals in 2014 and 2018. In 2010 she won a bronze.

She was chosen to carry the flag for the Opening Ceremonies but had to miss them as she tested positive for COVID-19 and had to isolate in a hotel. At 37, she is the oldest competitor in the sport.
