Festival dedicated to Georgia’s state vegetable

by The 100 Companies

April is the month to pay tribute to the sweet Vidalia onion, the official state vegetable of Georgia, with the annual Vidalia Onion Festival April 21-24.

Events include a concert with country artist Lee Brice, carnival, children’s parade, street dance, fireworks, half marathon and 5k. There is also an air show featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Taste some yummy dishes made with the onion at the recipe contest and public tasting. Or enter the World Famous Onion Eating Contest. Past winners have eaten eight onions in three minutes.

Vidalia onions are available from late April to early November.
