Iconic Mary Mac’s fully reopens after partial roof collapse

by The 100 Companies

Atlanta’s beloved Mary Mac’s Tea Room is back at full capacity after nearly a year of recovery following a partial roof collapse. It officially reopened the Skyline Room and Ms. Ellen’s Room, marking the final restoration step.

The March 6, 2024 collapse, during heavy rain, left debris scattered across Ponce de Leon Avenue. Mary Mac’s partially reopened two months later. Now, the historic eatery – famous for fried chicken, meatloaf and peach cobbler – is once again serving guests in all its dining rooms.

Today, Mary Mac’s is the last of 16 tea rooms that once filled intown Atlanta in the 1940s.
