Any day now, Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park will be named Georgia’s first National Park and Preserve and the 64th National Park.
The park, once home to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, sits along a 54-mile stretch of the Ocmulgee River where artifacts reflect more than 17,000 years of human habitation. The Muscogee Nation will co-manage it, making it the first time in history that a tribe that was once removed from the land will help operate the national park.
Learn more about the park here and explore this page with lots of resources and ideas to help plan your visit.
