The food industry is expected to bring in $898 billion in sales in 2022, according to the National Restaurant Association.
Those dollars won’t all come from brick-and-mortar restaurants. The past 10 years have brought massive changes to the industry, including the growth of pop-up kitchens, food trucks and delivery apps – all designed to get food to consumers without them taking a seat at a table.
One of the newest trends is the rise of ghost kitchens, cooking facilities used to prepare food for delivery only. They can be a good way for aspiring restaurateurs to test out a concept quicker.
