The heart of the 765 acres at Indian Springs State Park is a natural artesian spring. It is the product of the pressure of the Earth forcing underground water to the surface. The resulting water is rich with minerals picked up in the process. Many believed this water had healing properties and sought it for drinking water and for its homeopathic benefits.
Guests can sample the water at the stone Spring House, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. The park’s seasonal museum showcases the history of the Creek Indians, the spring and the park’s resort era.
