3 unique New Year’s Eve traditions in Georgia

These quirky NYE traditions are memorable:

Dropping of the Edelweiss – Helen is a German-themed mountain town built to appeal to tourists. Their family-friendly NYE celebration includes a symbolic dropping of the edelweiss flower.

The Possum Drop – The first Possum Drop in Tallapoosa, Georgia was in the late 1990s. The town was once called Possum Snout, and the Possum Drop was started by using a stuffed possum as the official mascot.

Perry Buzzard Drop – Started 10 years ago, the town wanted a more original NYE tradition. Inspired by the migration of buzzards to Perry every fall, the Buzzard Drop was born.
