The Sundance Institute recently announced that Atlanta has moved forward to become one of six finalists to host the annual Sundance Film Festival beginning in 2027.
To qualify as a finalist, the Sundance Institute evaluated each city’s potential based on infrastructure, ethos and equity values, event capabilities, and sustainability. Additionally, finalists demonstrated how they would continue to foster the diverse Sundance community and independent creativity integral to the festival.
Known for its vibrant film industry and community, Atlanta boasts multiple studios, independent filmmakers and notable venues, including the Plaza Theater, which serves as the home base of the Atlanta Film Festival.
