Fun recreation area in Georgia with deep roots

by The 100 Companies

In the 1800s, Native Americans inhabited the land. When missionaries arrived, they noted the unique rock formations of the land. It wasn’t until the 1900s that owners Garnet and Frieda Carter began guiding the development to what it is today.

Rock City opened to the public in 1932, when the Carters opened their property to guests. Since then, this fourth generation, family-owned company has focused on innovation, sustainability and art in nature.

Starting with golf and trails, it has grown to include Fairyland Caverns, Mother Goose Village and the Cornerstone Station, as well as shops, restaurants and a wedding venue.
