Prior to plunging into the world of commercial real estate, I worked for nine years in the family travel business. Back in those days (pre-internet) you relied upon an agent’s experience to handle your travel needs. The airline choices were slim – mainly Delta, Eastern, American and United – and choosing the best hotel or resort was hit or miss.
To get familiar with destinations, I went everywhere. While touring one hotel in the Caribbean with our hosts, I decided to test the waters. Literally. I jumped in the resort pool, much to everyone’s surprise. That’s one way to make an impression.
