Georgia’s population increased during pandemic

by The 100 Companies

The population of our state continues to increase. It has grown 1.7% in the last two years, from 2020 to 2022, according to the Census Bureau.

As of July 1, the population of Georgia was 10.9 million, up from 10.7 million in July 2020. That places the state in 8th place for number of residents, just below Ohio and above North Carolina.

Around 83,000 people were here in 1790, doubling to almost 163,000 10 years later. By 1860 Georgia had more than one million residents. With a few exceptions early in the 20th century, the population has steadily increased every year.
