We are back on the road in full force. AAA has estimated that 3.5 million Georgians will travel more than 50 miles from home between Dec. 23 and Jan. 2, setting a new record for end-of-the-year travel. That’s an increase of 112,000 over the same period in 2021.
More than 3.2 million will travel by car, around 184,000 by air and around 122,000 by other modes including train and bus.
While airfares have gone up about 6% over this period last year, gas prices are falling and are 27 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, with an average of $2.88.
