Doing business, attending school virtually, streaming movies and shopping online is going to get a lot easier for people in 33 counties in Georgia. According to a recent Treasury press release, $250 million of pandemic relief funds will be allocated to connect Georgia homes and businesses.
The Federal Communications Commission estimates that 15% of homes in the state, primarily in rural counties, do not have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
Federal funds will be given to the state’s 33 counties that are eligible to apply for the grants. A few of those counties include Bartow, Grady, Jackson, Jefferson and Oglethorpe.
