Built in 1951, the Darlington apartment building was the first high-rise built in Atlanta after World War II and became famous for its Atlanta’s Population Now sign.
The apartments became run down and the building was purchased by Varden Capital Properties in 2017 for $30 million, renovated and rebranded as The Lofts at Twenty25 with one-bedroom apartments ranging from 450 to 600 square feet.
Westside Capital Group, based in Miami, purchased the apartment tower for $136 million, its first purchase in the Atlanta market. It also has property in Alabama in its $1.2 billion portfolio of multifamily and mixed-use assets.
