Nature, history and greatest little privy at this North Georgia hike

by The 100 Companies

We found some of the best mountain views in Georgia from Eagle’s Rest Park in Jasper, Georgia on top of Mount Oglethrope, the southernmost peak of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The park has three hiking trails that range from .5 to 1.8 miles, picnic area, viewing platforms and “The Greatest Little Privy in the North Georgia Mountains.”

There’s signage for the former location of the Appalachian Trail as Mt. Oglethorpe was the southern terminus of the A.T. from 1937 to 1958 when development in the area caused it to be moved.

There is also a Trail of Tears Memorial.
