It’s electric! More electric vehicle industry comes to Georgia

by The 100 Companies

Hyundai Motor Group plans to begin construction in January 2023 on its first electric vehicle and battery manufacturing facility in Georgia. It hopes to be in full production by early 2025, creating approximately 8,100 new jobs.

The facility, its first state-of-the-art smart factory in the U.S., will be at the Bryan County Megasite off I-16 near Savannah. The company will invest $5.54 billion in the factory with Hyundai suppliers investing another $1 billion.

While growth of electric vehicle sales is slower in the U.S. than in Europe, sales were up 60% in Q1 2022 over a year ago.
