The employment picture is looking good in our state. In January and February, Georgia had an unemployment rate of 3.2 percent, the lowest among the top 10 most-populated states and below the national average of 3.8 percent, according to Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler. Florida was second with 3.5 percent unemployed.

In February, the number of employed people in Georgia was 5,068,389, an all-time high for the state.

Georgia also ranked No. 8 in the United States in job gain, with 216,000 jobs added from January 2021 to January 2022.

The state has the lowest number of unemployed recorded since June 2001.
