Thanks to some of the money from the federal spending bill, the Georgia Department of Transportation will be using $8 million to study the feasibility of the construction of a high-speed train between Atlanta and Savannah.
Supporters, including mayors of both cities, say it will be great for tourism for both cities. A high-speed train would also cut down on emissions on I-75 and I-16.
You can travel between the cities by train on Amtrak, but only if you transfer in North Carolina or Virginia. And it takes about 29 hours. My Maps app says I could bike it in 22.
